THE TEAM
We are KNOWBODY – an interdisciplinary team of entrepreneurs, teachers, medical-, design- and tech-experts with the common goal of revolutionizing sex education. The start-up was founded by Carolin, Vanessa and Fabian – with the aim of finally preparing teaching material for the sexual education of young people in a digital, understandable, and appealing way. This requires a team that combines a pedagogy of diversity with new ideas and clever design. That’s why KNOWBODY brings together people from different fields who work together to develop the app’s teaching content: Margo, Sina, Katha, Rieke, Gesine, Dani, Ilka and Lena come from the fields of (sex) education, psychology and teaching and have an eye for the subject matter. Chris and Leonie support the team with their medical expertise. Vicky, Tim, Celina, Louie and Daria prepare the content of the app with their designs and illustrations in such a way that it is a pleasure to look at it again and again. Fabian then packs the concentrated knowledge into code, while Carolin and Vanessa make sure that everyone is paid for their work, KNOWBODY finds its way into schools and the app continues to develop. Our remote team is bound by trust, purpose and a mutual understanding of our values and goals regarding a holistic, anti-discriminatory and diverse sex education.

THE USP
We are the first app for sexual education that is tailored to schools specific needs and in accordance with their curriculum. Our teaching units can be used directly in classes from the 6th grade onwards by teachers of all faculties in all secondary schools. With the help of the handbook, teachers are well prepared to moderate and guide young students through the units, giving them the freedom to explore the topics they are interested in and feel comfortable with. Students can use the app for their sex education inside as well as outside of the classroom by taking advantage of the additional information that we provide alongside the teaching units. In contrast to biology schoolbooks, all aspects of sexuality are covered in the app. The diversity of relationships, desires and gender identities is valued and reflected. The app can also provide content in varying formats, appealing to different learning types. Furthermore, our content is easily and quickly updated and corresponds to the latest scientific findings.

THE VISION
After wrapping up our pilot phase in July 2022, we will incorporate the feedback given by students and teachers into the app and launch the official app with the beginning of the new school year. This milestone will also be our point of market entry. To gain reach and awareness for our product as well establishing a channel for pre-sales, we are currently preparing a crowdfunding campaign. The campaign will kickstart our sales initiative, which we will then redirect towards public and private education providers. Within the following five years we wish to establish KNOWBODY as a provider of sex education in all 16 federal states and the German-speaking area, to expand our content and make it more accessible, and to set our sights towards new cultural regions and countries in dire need of sex education.
