THE TEAM
Our team is quite unusual for a tourism/travel company. None of us has worked in this field before. The core team now consists of three industrial engineers, a business economist and a software developer from the OWL region. In addition, there are currently two working students who have just joined the team.
We started VanSite because we ourselves are enthusiastic campers and in the past were constantly desperate in our search for a suitable parking space. We simply wanted to create a good solution to be able to camp stress-free close to nature. We have wondered why there is Airbnb for vacation rentals and private rooms, but no one has built something in this direction for campers. Thereupon, we decided without further ado and without much advance planning to just do it ourselves.
This mentality still runs like a red thread through our team culture. We don’t plan everything to the smallest detail. We are much more interested in keeping everything as simple as possible and not losing sight of the essentials.
We quickly realized how important clear communication and the conscious nurturing of a good team culture is. Since we worked together almost exclusively remotely from the beginning, the simple office conversations were missing. That’s why, despite the small team, we had to deal intensively with the cultivation of communication and culture consciously right from the start, because nothing could be created in the office. In the meantime, we’ve developed a good sensibility for this, which will serve us well, especially in the next few years of growth.

THE USP
The special thing about VanSite is the combination of an area-wide offer of close-to-nature parking spaces in the DACH region and a feature-rich and easy-to-use app. This gives VanSite a usability that no other booking platform for parking spaces in Europe can match.
The app in particular makes us stand out once again. With it, travelers can not only find, book and pay for parking spaces. It also offers additional features such as booking other leisure activities with the host, such as alpaca hikes. In addition, guests and hosts can easily communicate with each other via the integrated messenger, for example, to coordinate details of the journey directly with each other. All of this works so well that 99% of the reviews submitted on VanSite are awarded at least four out of five possible stars (with a mid-four-digit number of reviews).

The next goal is to further expand our offer, optimize the app even more and outgrow the German-speaking region. For example, by 2026 we want to create a comprehensive network of parking spaces in Europe, so that every camper, no matter where they are …
THE VISION
The next goal is to further expand our offer, optimize the app even more and outgrow the German-speaking region. For example, by 2026 we want to create a comprehensive network of parking spaces in Europe, so that every camper, no matter where they are, can find a VanSite parking space within 10 kilometers.
So we want to finally create a reliable way to camp secluded and close to nature, anywhere in Europe, without any stress or bans.
